Flower preservation Terms & Conditions

By Placing an order with me, you confirm you have read and accept the terms and conditions below.

Perky Arts and Crafts offer a flower PRESERVATION service, your flowers will be preserved in the condition they are in when they arrive with me not in the condition they were in on your actual event date.

All products are handmade, measurements may vary slightly to those stated in descriptions due to manual measurements and items being cast into flexible moulds which tend to bend, as resin is originally a liquid, perfectly straight edges may not always be achieved. Slight imperfections are to be expected but no two items will ever be the same. Each piece is unique and has its own character. They won't be uniform like machine made items.

UK CUSTOMERS ONLY

Due to the delicate nature of flowers, I am only able to serve brides located in the UK who are sending their items within the UK. If you are planning a wedding abroad, please be aware that it is highly unlikely your flowers will survive the return transit time to the UK. Should you reserve your place and your wedding takes place outside of the UK, please note that your deposit is non-refundable. It is your responsibility to review these terms carefully.

Turnaround times

I understand your eagerness to reunite with your preserved flowers. However, I want to emphasise that flower preservation is a complex and time-consuming process that cannot be hurried.

It’s difficult to put a timescale on creating such beautiful pieces, I only get your flowers for a few months, but you will get to keep them forever! Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I reserve the right to extend any quoted turnaround times beyond the time quoted at booking, I will not rush the preservation or casting process. Please bear this in mind when using my services for gifts. Do however please message me as early as you can if you would like certain items by a certain date and I will always do my best to accommodate.

Handmade Notice

Due to the handmade nature of my items, please be aware that there may be some 'imperfections' such as micro-bubbles, dust, uneven edging, or some small cavities. I am very experienced and you will find minimal handmade imperfections but it's important to understand that the points listed below can happen.

-Larger/deeper shapes may have layer lines due to being poured in multiple layers, this is unavoidable and these don’t detract from the overall piece, they are just signatures of handmade items not made in factories.

-Cavities will look like small holes which form during the curing process. I do everything in my power to prevent these, however sometimes it is not possible. These do not in any way affect your flowers, once your flowers have been dried they will last as detailed in my terms. Cavities usually only form on the sides or back of items and are not visible from the front.

-Please note that the letters F & P are not freestanding. The letter J is lowercase.

-The sides may not be as shiny as the fronts, this is not a defect. All shapes are to be displayed forward-facing.

By ordering, you are accepting of these conditions and they are not classed as defective.

Resin Notice

All resin may take on an amber tint over a long period of time. I use the highest quality casting resin which is UV stabilised and inhibits yellowing, however, all resin will take on an amber tint over a period of time. While resin may amber over time, it will take on a beautiful vintage feel and is a timeless way to display your flowers. To prolong the resin clarity it's best to display your item out of direct sunlight or away from heat such as fireplace mantels to avoid this. The sun will always win this battle!

I cannot take any responsibility for resin pieces that turn yellow/amber as there is no way to know how much UV exposure the items were exposed to while in the client’s possession.

To conceal ambering, I highly recommend adding a black background which is free of charge.

Resin is a two-part liquid that needs to be carefully mixed at the correct ratio and temperature. On rare occasions, resin can overheat which causes it to thicken too fast & overheat which means it’s not suitable for use. If the resin overheats whilst it’s in the mould with your flowers, there’s a risk of spoiling.

Please rest assured that I am very experienced and do everything in my power to prevent this however, it can happen. In the unlikely event that this does occur, I will offer the best possible solution such as a partial/full refund, discount, or a replacement made at no extra cost. This will be dependent on the order and discussed on an individual basis.

White Bouquets

After the drying process, white flowers undergo significant changes in appearance. Typically, they will transition to a cream, off-white, or even yellow hue.

In the case of white roses, ensuring they are delivered promptly after your wedding enhances the drying process. However, when encased in resin, these roses may develop translucent spots on their petals due to the heat generated by the resin.

When working with an all-white bouquet, it's essential to consider these factors. For bouquets containing a mix of flowers with white varieties, the white flowers are likely to be used as a background element in the arrangement.

Flower Colour Changes

Drying & preserving may change the colours slightly depending on the shade & flower type. This colour change is completely normal and is a side effect of drying. I use high-quality silica sand during the drying process which retains the shape & vibrancy of your flowers. Common changes can include:

-Light pink can change to a soft shade of lilac

-Dark Pink & blue can change to a shade of purple

-Red roses change into a deep shade of burgundy - they’re very dark once placed in resin so best to be balanced out with other colours if possible.

-White flowers are delicate and often change to an off-white/cream colour, sometimes even shades of yellow.

-White flowers and pastel colours sometimes turn translucent in spots once placed in resin. Some flowers dry a lot better than others, if your arrangement is all one type of flower or you have concerns over their suitability feel free to message me to discuss them. There is a possibility that the flowers may become dull over time if left in constant direct sunlight.

When you place your order, you are agreeing to the understanding that some flowers change colour and shape as they dry. Your flowers may darken or change tone and they tend to shrink a little due to the drying process. Red or white berries will turn dark red, brown or black. It’s not possible to preserve succulents due to the amount of moisture they contain. Some flowers dry a lot better than others, if your arrangement is all one type of flower or you have concerns over their suitability feel free to message me to discuss them. There is a possibility that the flowers may become dull over time if left in constant direct sunlight.

I do not use colour enhancing techniques, and I am also unable to offer this as an additional service, please have this in mind before purchasing.

Payments, refunds & late payments

50% Payment is required upon receipt of your flowers. The remaining 50% is due upon completion of the project - before collection.

Once I receive your flowers, I will send you an invoice for the full amount which will show the 50% deposit you will need to pay within 3 days. Please note that if the first instalment is not received within this period, I reserve the right to cancel the order. In such cases, any flowers associated with the order will be disposed of.

Please note that if you change your mind once items are made or for any reason do not like them, these items will still be charged at full price. Please let me know as soon as possible so we can discuss. Full payment of all items will need to be made before I proceed with making any other items.

If you are on your honeymoon, please settle the initial payment before your departure or arrange for timely payment while abroad. Failure to make payment within 3 working days and/or after 3 invoice reminders will result in the cancellation of your order and disposal of the flowers. Custom orders or deposits are non-refundable.

Please note that payments made later than 2 weeks after the due date, will incur an additional charge of 5% of the total order value. For payments made 2-4 weeks later a 10% charge, and for payments made 4+ weeks later, a 15% charge will apply. Additionally, if I do not receive any communication from the customer after 2 months despite multiple attempts at reaching out, I reserve the right to withhold their order and the amount paid to recoup material costs, for the time and resources to follow up on orders and to store items. If you are having financial difficulties please let me know at your earliest convenience and I will do my best to accommodate you and work out a payment plan to elevate the pressure.

Payment can be made via Bank Transfer or credit or debit card via a secure payment link.

Refunds & Cancellations

Due to the pieces being handmade, I do not offer refunds or returns. If there are any problems with your order that you bring up once you have received your order, we can discuss how to move forward. However, If any issues are brought to my attention after several weeks of receiving your order then I will not be held accountable.

Changes to your order

Please note that you will be unable to change your order if I have already begun the resin process. If you would like to make any changes or add-on additional products please let me know ASAP.

Adding sentimental items

As with all steps in the preservation process, everything is made entirely by hand, so imperfections may occur and should be accepted as part of a handmade product. The process of including a photo involves mock-up design, print & lamination. The laminated photo may on occasion have a very small section which didn’t laminate 100%, which I am unable to identify until it’s placed in resin and a small amount of leakage appears in the form of a shadow. This is not classed as defection and is out of my control. However, I will do my absolute best to ensure this doesn’t happen. Please note that these imperfections do not qualify for any refund as they are inherent to the handmade production process.

If you are including a photo charm, the same rule above applies except, instead of lamination, a different type of resin is applied to the photo charm first which acts as a sealant before the main resin pour. As above, this may leak on occasion and cause the photo to appear darker in spots.

Clear/natural Diamanté charms or pins may be difficult to see in resin due to its clarity. Other metals tend to stay exactly the same once placed in resin. Ribbons will change to a darker colour (as if dipped in water).

Communication throughout the process

I will reach out to you 48 hours ahead of your wedding, on the day that I receive your flowers, upon completion of drying and upon completion of the whole order. Kindly note that any update requests sent outside of these times will be responded to as quickly as possible.

Use of your flowers:

Please only provide me with the amount of flowers discussed in advance of delivery. If more flowers are provided than discussed or than I expected, then you will incur additional cost to cover the drying of these flowers.

I do my best to use as many of your flowers as possible however please note that I may not use all of the flowers provided. I will only use enough flowers for your chosen moulds and I'll use the best-preserved options only. I will return any unused flowers to you.

If you have larger flowers and have chosen a small mould, I may need to deconstruct your flowers to fit inside the mould. Usually, I will discuss this with you when I receive your flowers to see if you would like an alternative option.

Please be aware that on rare occasions, I may not be able to fulfil your original order due flowers not preserving well, issues with resin, moulds or other unforeseen problems. This is rare but if this should occur, an alternative shape or partial refund may be offered.

Shipping & Your Flowers

It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that the flowers arrive in the best possible condition. Packing instructions will be provided & should be followed exactly for best results. I cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to your flowers whilst they are in transit.

Once products are completed, Any Shipping costs are calculated by the weight and value of the order and sent via a Royal Mail Tracked24 service. The delivery time is approximately 2 business days (excl. Bank Holidays). On the rare occasion that an item is delayed, I will do my best to chase your order, however, you will be provided a tracking number or receipt where you can check the status of your item. I cannot open a case with Royal Mail until your item has been missing for more than 30-days and I am unable to offer a refund during this time. Please note that during busy periods such as the summer wedding season & Christmas, your items may take considerably longer to arrive.

How do I care for my finished items?

I use the highest quality casting resin which is UV stabilised and inhibits yellowing, however, if left in direct sunlight this can cause the resin to yellow/amber more quickly. To prolong the resin clarity it’s best to display your item out of direct sunlight or away from heat such as fireplace mantels to avoid this. The sun will always win this battle! Please be aware that ultimately all resin will show signs of degradation and amber over time (it will take on a new vintage style). We cannot take any responsibility for resin pieces that turn yellow/amber after a short period of time as there is no way to know how much UV light the items were exposed to while in the client’s possession.

Please keep away from any direct heat, this includes storing items in rooms that get very warm such as conservatories. Items such as coasters and trays are heat resistant up to 70 degrees but only 30 days after you have received your items, they need this time to reach their full strength and resistance. Until this point please take care. For coasters please only use for cold drinks up until the 30 days are up. I recommend battery operated tea lights for tea light holders. If open flames are used do not leave unattended, as we are unsure of the types on candles you may use we cannot guarantee flames will not damage the resin.

To clean please do not use harsh chemicals or abrasives, mild dish soap and a microfiber cloth will polish out any finger prints or blemishes.

Items are not scratch or shatterproof and are not designed to be handled everyday. They are for display purposes only and due to the nature of the resin they may have sharper edges on items like cubes or the backs of letters.

Constant exposure to moisture will damage the resin, please keep out of humid areas such as a bathroom or washroom.

All items are not weatherproof and are not suitable to be stored outside.

We do not offer a warranty or guarantee on the life span of your items, but if correctly looked after they can last for many years.
